For nearly 200-odd members of Cooperative Group Housing Societies (CGHS), the long wait to take procession of their house came to an end on Sunday.
Two societies in Dwarka — Sarve Satyam CGHS in Sector 4 and Maharani Aventibai CGHS in sector 15 — held a self-draw of flats in the presence of political leaders.
Members say that they are forced to go for self-draw as the Registrar of Cooperative Societies (RCS) refused to allocate the houses to them. ‘‘The houses are ready but they are not allotted to us. We can’t wait any longer. The decision was taken at the general body meeting of our society,’’ said Rajender Arya, co-convener, Association of Suffering Members of Cooperative Group Housing Societies.
So far 21 societies, including the above two, out of 77 have conducted self-draw to allot flats to members. ‘‘We have been told that RCS will not consider this a valid and action would be taken against the members. But we are not scared. No one can punish us for entering our own house. The high court and Supreme Court had already asked the RCS to start the allotment process. But till date not a single house has been cleared by the RCS.
The draw was conducted in the presence of Delhi Pradesh BJP president Vijender Gupta, Congress MP Mahabal Mishra, Delhi unit CPI general secretary Amarjit Kaur, local MLA Dharm Dev Solanki among others. ‘‘All the leaders have ensured their support to us,’’ said Arya.
