The owner of a security agency, along with his five employees, was arrested by the crime branch for allegedly committing a robbery at the office of All India Football Federation (AIFF) over a month ago, said police. The gang’s plan to target an ATM in Dwarka, the police claimed, was foiled with the arrests. Security agency owner Rai Singh (37), and his employees Birbal Singh (50), Ashok Kumar (19), Jitender Singh (24), Bhupender Singh (24) and Sanju (22) were apprehended from Dwarka over the past one week by the antiextortion cell.
Additional commissioner of police (crime) Neeraj Thakur said the gang had allegedly robbed electronic items and firefighting equipment at gunpoint from the AIFF office in Dwarka on March 1.
The arrests came after the police got information regarding Bhupender’s involvement in the robbery. Bhupender and Sanju, both security guards, were arrested on April 9 and their interrogation led the police to nab other accused. During questioning, Thakur claimed, Bhupender and Sanju confessed to the crime and revealed that the gang — led by Birbal, a security guard working in Dwarka — had planned the robbery.
Thakur said Rai Singh, the owner of M/s Super Star Security Agency and Allied Services, had provided his card for transportation of looted goods.
